+BSM model building follows the basic scientific principle.  We know there is physics beyond the standard model, such as dark matter, neutrino mass, dark energy, inflation, baryon asymmetry.  We also know that the standard model has many unexplained issues, such as the hierarchy problem, fermion masses and mixings, origin of electroweak symmetry breaking.  We develop new theories to address these problems, confront them based on data, and refine theories further.  This leads to strong feedback between TF08 and the vibrant experimental program.  BSM model building makes testable predictions for colliders, accelerators, astrophysics, cosmology, underground experiments, and precision measurements.  It draws on tools of quantum field theory, perturbation theory, amplitudes, lattice, effective field theories, and numerical simulations.
